Baltimore Artist Florence Bourne "Defeated" 1949

You are looking at an oil painting of a sad, troubled lady that was done in 1949. The woman is an attractive lady who looks like she is deep in thought or very worried. Perhaps she has suffered the loss of a loved one. There is an old paper tag on the back of the painting that says: Detach and Fasten to Back of Exhibit. Seventeenth Annual Exhibition of Maryland Artists. Works must be received at The Baltimore Museum of Art on March 1, 2, 3 between 9 a.m.and 4:30 p.m. and March 4 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and between 6 p.m. and 9:30. Artist, Florence Bourne; Address 311 Eastway Court; Title, Defeated; Price, $200. There is no yearly date on the paper tag. On the front of the painting it is signed by Florence Bourne and dated 1949. The painting measures 18.25" W x 22" H x 7/8" D. The picture is oil on stretched canvas. The picture would be enhanced in the right frame. The painting is quite good from a technical standpoint but the subject matter is up to you.
